Flag Spinnaker

We installed the flag spinnaker that was built for a Com-Pac 35. This sail was installed on a Facnor Asymmetrical Furler and worked great. This is a nice combination for any cruising yacht thats wants things simplified for spinnaker sailing. You just roll the sail in and out like a traditional furler. The customer was very happy with his new sail and very excited about how the boat sails now downwind.

American Flag Spinnaker

This sail is going to be used with a Facnor ASY Furler. Facnor Asymmetrical Furlers are a great option for downwind spinnakers and upwind code 0. These Units are easy to install and simplify use of these sails while shorthanded. They can be used while cruising or racing and are currently used by many of the top ocean racing teams. Facnor continuous line furlers were rated best choice by Practical Sailor.

Spring is back and we are busy. We have had some fun projects this Spring. Custom spinnaker graphics, full inventory for Lady Patty a 45ft Ketch, lots of new Kevlar / Carbon race sails, and Dacron fill the loft. We also took part in a build project of a Carbon Spectra Genoa for a 160ft sailboat, total sail weight topped out at 1,100 lbs.

For those sailors who live in the cold belt, or who take the winter off, it's time to consider taking down your sails. Leaving the sails flaked on the boom or furled on the forestay increases the risk of mold and mildew. There's also a chance that those big winter blows could unfurl your headsail causing more than just sail damage. Storing your sails below deck can be just as damaging. Take your sails off the boat and store them indoors. Beware of the backyard shed or unprotected garage, rodents love sails. It's your investment and we will help you protect them offering free storage till spring with our winter service program. Pat Huntley Boat Of The Year

Pat Huntley takes boat of the year on Lake Erie. Force 10 Sails built a new mainsail winter of 2009 for Pat and his Olson 30. We built this mainsail as somewhat of a test sail constructed out of Dacron. Pat was very happy with the shape and how the boat sailed. He has now ordered a Kevlar Main and new Spinnaker to be built over winter.

Ashley Gibbon places 2nd for Oxford Series

We would not only like to welcome Ashley and his new Melges 24 to Oxford but congratulate him for his 2nd place finish in the Oxford Amateur Racing Series. Ashley purchased his new boat winter of 2009 and suited it with a Force 10 Jib and Code 0. He now has a new spinnaker and mainsail on order for next season.

Force 10 Sails has another great season on the Miles

Once again a big Congrats to Mooncusser, MYRX, and Penniless for their victories on the Miles River. Mooncusser and MYRX tied in points for the series with Mooncusser winning the Tie breaker. It doesn't get any closer than that. All 3 boats using full inventories of Force 10 Sails, sailing their boats to top finishes. Penniless with Janet Buck at the helm not only placed 1st in her class but took High Point for the season.

Spring is here and Force 10 Sails is hard at work. It has been a busy spring building and servicing sails for many customers from the Chesapeake to Canada. Some of our winter sails constructed, C&C 30 mainsail, Quest 30 spinnaker, Carter 41 mainsail, spinnaker, and Genoa, J 24 mainsail and genoa, Sabre 36 mainsail, Kirby 30 spinnaker. We always have new projects on the floor and encourage our customers to stop by and see their sails being built.

Force 10 Sails Dominate On The Miles River

Congratulations to Art Malsin's Moon Cusser, John Yorkilous MYRX, and Gary Nylander Penniless. Moon Cusser sailed the season with a Force 10 Tri Radial Kevlar #1 and Kevlar #2 String Sail. Art placed 1st in class for the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Herring Island fleet events. MYRX was a strong second to Moon Cusser in all events battling to the finish with a full inventory of Force 10 Sails. Penniless driven by Janet Buck and Gary finished off the season strong with a New Force 10 Dacron #1. Penniless took a 1st in class for the Frostbite series and have a new main on order.

Best Sail Ever

There are many wind gods for all types of weather, from what I understand. We thank the good weather / wind gods. Especially Boreas for north winds and bringer of colder air and Zephyrus for west winds and bringer of early summer breezes.

From Wunderground.com - our weather conditions on Saturday from roughly 2 pm to 6pm were constant winds around 8 - 10 knots out of the NNW and the temperature was around 80 degrees with low humidity of less than 51%.

I believe we have a new standard for Mollie and Babin weather! Très Bien !!

Great photos will be coming your way in a few days. Dave has the camera today as he works with Force 10 Sails to finish installing our new main sail, new lazy jack system and new stack pack system.

Captain Dave and I sure do appreciate the Iler / Babin crew taking this maiden voyage with us and the new Tartan 4100 main sail as we headed to the Baltimore lighthouse and back to Osprey Point.

Big Win For Spoilsport

SpoilSport, skippered by Stuart Challoner, bested 16 other boats to win the 2009 J-24 Northeast Regional Championship hosted by the Corinthian Yacht Club and J24 Fleet 28 of Marblehead, Massachusetts.

Day 1
Strong northwest winds of 18 to 25 knots and choppy seas provided for challenging and fun conditions for a talented group of racers on Saturday of the event. Three races were held on Saturday with 1.2 mile windward/leeward legs. The first two races were four leg races with downwind finishes and the final race was a five leg race with an upwind finish.

SpoilSport dominated the day with two seconds and a first. Wind shifts and current were very difficult to see on the water but obviously these folks saw something and made the upper right of the course work every time. Other notable competitors were Mike Ingham sailing a new Italian boat who finished the day with two firsts and a sixth and Will Welles sailing Paraloc who finished third on the day.

Day 2
Sunday brought completely different conditions with a southwest wind of 6 to 12 knots with flat seas. Two five leg races were run in slightly shifty conditions from a west southwest breeze to a southerly sea breeze. Will Welles and team won the day impressively with a first and a third. In the second race they were over early and banged the left corner and perfectly picked up a 15 degree left shift to get back into the race. SpoilSport however sailed very conservatively, making sure to keep close to their competition, and posted a fourth and a second place to win the regatta.

The team of AL, skippered by Carter White and Mark Klein, having not place exceptionally well after the first day, dug themselves out of the cellar by posting a fifth and a first to finish fourth overall. Mike Ingham and team dropped to third after getting caught out to the right one too many times on Sunday.

The spinnaker arrived safely but we haven't had a chance to use it. The
last 3 races have been called due to lack of wind. We have 8 races left
on the year so we still have plenty of time.

We have sailed 33 races this year and have won more than our share.

"The Hawk" loves her new set of wings! What a pleasure to have the boat in the groove right from the get go. I am usually scrambling around the boat pulling and pinching to get the draft forward but on Sunday we set the sails, made a couple of adjustments and took off!
